AIDS Clinical Trial Unit (ACTU)

The AIDS Clinical Trials Unit at Case Western Reserve University was established in 1987 through funding from the National Institutes of Health. Since that time more than 1,300 persons have been enrolled in treatment trials designed to optimize treatment strategies for HIV infection and its complications.

The CWRU AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) participates in national collaborative treatment trials coordinated through the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) - a consortium of 30 academic medical centers throughout the United States.

The Unit also participates in trials supported by private pharmaceutical sponsors and studies designed by CWRU investigators. The ACTU has subunits at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
